Salt Creek Youth Choir | BCS Performing Arts Academy

BCS is excited to host the Salt Creek Youth Choir, an all-new choral ensemble for students grades 4-8, directed by Ms. Alexa Petrando. Rehearsal will take place once per week on Thursdays, from 7:30-8:15pm in the BCS Blackbox Theatre (Studio 4). Students will learn a combination of vocal technique and literature, in a variety of choral styles. Read more about the director, Ms. Alexa, below!

Grades: 4th-8th

Rehearsal: Thursdays, 7:30-8:15pm

Location: Beyond Center Stage Blackbox Theatre (Studio 4)

Participation Fee: $30 per month (due the 1st, Sept-May)

Registration Fee: $0

Performances: Winter concert & Spring concert (dates TBA)

Non-rehearsal dates: Nov. 26, Dec. 24, Dec. 31, Apr. 1

Extras: Students will need a black binder, as well as black attire for the concerts.

About the director

Alexa Petrando developed a love for the performing arts when she was two years old at her mother’s summer show choir camp, Rising Stars. Alexa is proud to have trained with Ms. Sara at BCS for over 9 years (voice and piano). She also took a variety of dance classes at BCS through the years, and she is now a proud staff member since summer 2021. Alexa holds a Bachelor's Degree in Choral Music Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in student musicals, and having fun in social activities through her sorority and on campus. She is currently a music teacher in District 204, and is excited to be directing the inaugural season of the Salt Creek Youth Choir!
